This Picture Just Makes Me Smile!

Love Is In The Air

Jeff and I decided a few years ago that we would treat Valentines Day as a family holiday rather than a couples holiday. Whenever we have gone out on V-Day the restaurants are always way too crowded and not to mention that it's very hard to find a babysitter on that night. So we have our own little party at home with the kiddos. This year we had sweet and sour chicken and rice. We always use my china and fancy tablecloth and napkins and drink sparkling cider out of our crystal glasses. And we always eat our Valentines dinner by candlelight! I love my 4 Valentines so much and wouldn't want to spend my night any other way.

Afterwards we popped popcorn and watched "College Road Trip." It was a fun night

Taking After Mom

It's a usual sight for me to be sitting at my kitchen table on my laptop. Abbi and Hallie have taken after me and LOVE the computer.
My parents gave Hallie a little computer that has learning games on it. It's probably her favorite toy right now. I love this picture of her sitting in her Belle dress working on her computer.
Abbi has even started her own private blog, which some of you will be getting invitations to view. We're still working a little bit on it. She has also found some games on the internet that she loves to play.

Korver Update!

Korver is now 4 1/2 months old and I seriously can't believe how time has flown by. He went to his 4 month old check-up and is doing great! He is in the 50th percentile for his head circumfrance and length, but only the 5th for his weight weighing in at 11 lbs. 11oz. So the doctor told me to start squeezing in one more feeding per day to try and get his weight up. He also told me that we could start giving him rice cereal and a few baby foods in the next few weeks. So we bought some and tried it. Mr. K knew exactly what to do with that stuff. He ate a whole bowl like it was nothing. We also started him on beans a couple nights ago and he also loves that. When we put him in his high chair he starts kicking his legs and gets all excited. I'm happy to say that he's fattening up nicely! His legs are starting to get the cute fat rolls on them.
He still has to be on Allimentum and is doing really well on it. I wish it wasn't so stinky (and expensive.) We aren't using so much now that we're feeding him rice and baby food which is nice. There was a chance that he was going to have to wear a helmet for a few months. At his 2 month appointment the doctor told me that I had to order this special pillow that he had to sleep on. It's shaped like a horse shoe and keeps his head from laying flat on the bed. It cost me $40 and when it came I was like, are you serious? This is it!? It's no bigger than his head and is made out of terry cloth with velcro on the back to keep it in place. There's not much to it. But it did help and I was happy when the doctor told me that he would not have to wear a helmet. Mostly because those things cost about $2000 and most insurance don't cover it because it's a cosmetic fix. So no helmet for the K-Man. We have also moved him from the craddle in our room to his crib in his own room. It was a very sad day. I always get sad when my babies make the transition from craddle to crib. Korver is such a happy baby and we still can't get enough of him. It's so much fun to have a baby in the house.

This Makes Me Really Happy

I have been hounding Jeff for weeks that we need to get the garage cleaned out. It has become our catch-all this winter for anything that we don't want to deal with. But it had gotten to the point that we could barely drive our tiny car in there without having to skinny our way past it. So Saturday we finally cleaned it out.
Here is the before picture
and this is the after picture
The stuff to the right is all the kids bikes and our strollers and play stuff. And all that stuff that is next to the refrigerator is stuff that is going to go to charity this next week. We already took a truckload of stuff over to D.I. after we finished on Saturday, but I wanted to give some of my sister-in-law's who have little girls younger than Hallie a chance to come and go through some of her old clothes. I contemplated doing a yard sale this spring, but talked myself out of it pretty quickly. I have only ever done one in my married life and it so totally wasn't worth it. If anyone wants, or knows of anyone that could use a baby swing, playpen and pink toddler potty (never actually used because it scared Hallie to death) come and get it or let me know you want it before Wednesday. That is the day that I will be taking everything over to D.I.
This also makes me very happy. Back in the summer Jeff's mom called and told us that she was taking each of her kids and their spouses (there are 8 kids in Jeff's family) to buy $200 worth of food storage EACH. I was ecstatic!! We had just gotten Korver a couple of days before so we were pretty overwhelmed and didn't have a chance to organize it when we brought it home. So we stacked it in our messy garage. When we looked through it on Saturday there was so much more food than I remember. It was fun stacking it all up on the shelves and seeing just how much we really had. It also gave me motivation to keep on top of it and cycle it through.

Such A Good Eater

Yes that is ice cream in one hand and a carrot in the other. I was chopping carrots to put in a potato salad that I was making and Hallie was watching me, eating an ice cream cone that Jeff had made for her. This kid LOVES vegetables and asked if she could have a carrot. A CARROT!!! Of course I gave her one and she finished off 2 carrots before eating the rest of her ice cream. It's nice to have a not-so-picky-eater because anyone who knows our other daughter Abbi knows that she loves anything sweet. We have a hard time getting her to eat anything that isn't doused in sugar. Hallie is quite the opposite. If we make pancakes, bacon and eggs for breakfast, she wants nothing to do with the pancakes and goes straight for the eggs and bacon. When we make green salad she's right there with her fork digging in. She also LOVES broccoli and cauliflower to eat plain. She's such a funny little girl.
